Our story

Being an illustrator has always been in my blood. From an early age, I knew I could draw and I loved it. When asked what I wanted to be when I grew up, I told my 3rd grade class that I wanted to be a “drawer”. The class laughed, but people would always say “you’re a really good drawer”. So, a “drawer” is just what I would call myself.

I began to draw and paint everything from cartoons, to people, pets and cars. Sometimes my cartoons included people in cars. Inspired by the famous, Ed “Big Daddy” Roth who was known for his “Rat Fink” hot rod cartoons, I would create my own rat fink-style cartoons, complete with a crazy hot rod and a wild-eyed big rat at the wheel.

From an early age, I had aspired to follow in my dad’s footsteps as an illustrator. Throughout school, up until my second year in college, I majored in “Art”. But in my sophomore year I switched to Industrial Design where I learned all about “rapid visualization”. Learning to draw and design anything very fast. That included drawing everything from power tools and automobiles to executive desktop clocks using design markers and colored pencils.

Eventually, after getting married in the mid-seventies, my wife and I moved to the Santa Cruz mountains in Northern California. It was there that I joined a little known Silicon Valley company that would eventually become the most popular video gaming company of it’s day, Atari. It was there that I began creating artwork for their coin-op arcade game cabinets as well as painting cartridge box cover illustrations for their breakthrough 2600 consumer video gaming system.

From there I became a full-time freelance illustrator. Working from my home studio, I had representation in the Bay Area, Los Angeles, Chicago and New York. During this time I had the privilege of creating illustrations for Mars Candy, Diet Rite Cola, Bantum Books, Coors Brewing, Coca Cola, Teledyne Semiconductor, Warner Home Video, Activision, EA Games and Sega.

Vintage Vehicle restoration

Along with illustration, I have another passion for vintage automobiles and trucks. Specifically, I restore old Chevrolet cars, pickup trucks and Porsches.

Over the past 50+ years, I’ve restored several vintage vehicles for myself and for several clients.

Here are just a few photos of several completed restorations and a few still in their “vintage” state.
